The Myrtle Beach International Airport Announces Winners from the Airport's Third Annual High School Student Art Contest

The Myrtle Beach International Airport wishes to congratulate students who submitted winning artistic concepts in the airport's third annual student art contest.

Launched in 2020, the contest was created to provide an opportunity for local High School students to display their talent, while enhancing the passenger terminal with unique artwork. The contest was briefly suspended due to the pandemic and was relaunched in 2022.

For the 2023 contest, participants were invited to create a work of art inspired by the theme:

Dreaming of international adventures?  Create a piece of artwork depicting an international destination you’ve been to or would like to visit.  From the Eiffel Tower in Paris to the Tokyo Sky Tree, the world is your canvas!

The first place submission, Andaman Coast was created by Sarah Fortman from Waccamaw High School.  2nd place was awarded to Kloe Gregory from Socastee High School for her submission, Maiko in Japan.  Third place was awarded to Chris Van Pablo C. Mantal from Myrtle Beach High School, for his submission Christ the Redeemer.

Three additional submissions were selected as honorable mentions, which include: Swiss Alps by Katherine McCollum from Myrtle Beach High School, Next Destination by Hailee Robinson from the Academy for Arts, Science and Technology and Rome by Jenna Johnson from Georgetown High School.  All six submissions will be on display in the airport in the coming months.

Students wishing to compete in the 2023-2024 contest should check back in August, when we will announce the next contest at www.flymyrtlebeach.com/artcontest/
