The Myrtle Beach International Airport is poised to break new passenger traffic records for fiscal year 2022. Fiscal year 2019 was the airport's current best year on record, where the airport saw a total of 2,564,444 travelers arriving and departing at MYR.
In just the first 6 months of 2022, from January to June, there were 1,544,966 total passengers at MYR, compared to 1,246,725 for the same period in 2021, an overall increase of 24%.
With a little more than two months of summer remaining and half a year left for 2022, the airport team expects that total passenger traffic for calendar year 2022 will supersede their previous best year on record.
“It's no surprise given the increasing popularity of the Grand Strand as a top vacation destination in the U.S., that the airport continues to receive a record amount of travelers", said Scott Van Moppes, Director of Airports. "We are pleased to welcome so many visitors to our slice of paradise and the airport team is confident that 2022 will be another record-setting year for tourism at the Myrtle Beach International Airport."
The Myrtle Beach International Airport is the gateway to Myrtle Beach, SC, the Grand Strand and the Hammock Coast. The Myrtle Beach International Airport is owned by Horry County and operated by the Department of Airports. MYR is served by Allegiant, American, Avelo, Breeze, Delta, Frontier, Porter, Southwest, Spirit, Sun Country, and United Airlines.
